Hey yah'll just to go back a bit to one of my previous post's about when the
Kardashian's go to Africa. From watching that video I found myself wanting to know more so i did some research and know I want to expand on more about the African Diamonds and
Russell Simmons vision on how he see Africa but also because I think you can't have enough awerness on any subject that effects us or motivates us into action.
Now from my research when Russell Simmons was on a fact-finding trip to Botswana and South Africa he became inspired to create the Green Initiative Jewelry collection along with the Diamond Empowerment Fund. The Green Initiative collection (pictured at left) of the Simmons Jewelry Company, features hip hop inspired jewelry in stainless steel, rubber and conflict free diamonds.
The Green bracelet is the Green Initiative's first piece that was sold all over in america in its launch in 2007 and was then launched in July of 2008 exculsively to H.Samuels in the Uk. The bracelet is made from native African materials - genuine green malachite beads and a rough African conflict free diamond. The bracelet embodies the natural beauty of Africa and celebrates the resources this rich continent has to offer.

Founded in 2007, the Diamond Empowerment Fund™ (DEF) is a non-profit international organization established in order to work towards the empowerment of Africa. The fund’s mission is to raise money and support education initiatives that develop and empower people in African nations where diamonds are a natural resource. Available exclusively in selected key H.Samuel stores and from www.hsamuel.co.uk, The Green Initiative bracelet is available in two unisex sizes and is priced at £125. There will be a donation of $20 ($US) to the Diamond Empowerment Fund™ from the sale of each piece, in order to further aid the African people through structured educational programs.

To quote a statement from Russell Simmons from his youtube video of his trip to Bostwana where the diamonds are dug up clesned and cut.
"This shouldn't be, not the richest diamond country in to world, this shouldn't be like this, they don't have no TV, no nothing this shouldn't be the richest diamond coutry not like this".
Well I agree with him it shouldn't be like that but it is and, what I liked about his next statement showed vision and foresite which a lot of people don't have when they go to Africa and see all the problems. They think just by throwing money at it, it will go away but it takes a stronger person to sit back look at the problem and finding a way to solve it that inpowers people and doesn't leave them feeling like their taking a handout.
What he did say though was, " its okay we have somthing to aspire to 10 yrs from know it should not be like this".
This statement piece is now internationally recognised as a symbol of universal support for the African people. The design of the bracelet is a perfect representation of the beliefs and aims of the charity behind its launch. The green malachite is symbolic of the care of the planet and, in fact, the African continent and its natural and human resources.
