Going "Green" the Simmons Way

Hey yah'll just to go back a bit to one of my previous post's about when the Kardashian's go to Africa.

From watching that video I found myself wanting to know more so i did some research and know I want to expand on more about the African Diamonds and Russell Simmons vision on how he see Africa but also because I think you can't have enough awerness on any subject that effects us or motivates us into action.

Now from my research when Russell Simmons was on a fact-finding trip to Botswana and South Africa he became inspired to create the Green Initiative Jewelry collection along with the Diamond Empowerment Fund. The Green Initiative collection (pictured at left) of the Simmons Jewelry Company, features hip hop inspired jewelry in stainless steel, rubber and conflict free diamonds.

The Green bracelet is the Green Initiative's first piece that was sold all over in america in its launch in 2007 and was then launched in July of 2008 exculsively to H.Samuels in the Uk. The bracelet is made from native African materials - genuine green malachite beads and a rough African conflict free diamond. The bracelet embodies the natural beauty of Africa and celebrates the resources this rich continent has to offer.

Founded in 2007, the Diamond Empowerment Fund™ (DEF) is a non-profit international organization established in order to work towards the empowerment of Africa. The fund’s mission is to raise money and support education initiatives that develop and empower people in African nations where diamonds are a natural resource. Available exclusively in selected key H.Samuel stores and from www.hsamuel.co.uk, The Green Initiative bracelet is available in two unisex sizes and is priced at £125. There will be a donation of $20 ($US) to the Diamond Empowerment Fund™ from the sale of each piece, in order to further aid the African people through structured educational programs.

To quote a statement from Russell Simmons from his youtube video of his trip to Bostwana where the diamonds are dug up clesned and cut.

"This shouldn't be, not the richest diamond country in to world, this shouldn't be like this, they don't have no TV, no nothing this shouldn't be the richest diamond coutry not like this".
Well I agree with him it shouldn't be like that but it is and, what I liked about his next statement showed vision and foresite which a lot of people don't have when they go to Africa and see all the problems. They think just by throwing money at it, it will go away but it takes a stronger person to sit back look at the problem and finding a way to solve it that inpowers people and doesn't leave them feeling like their taking a handout.
What he did say though was, " its okay we have somthing to aspire to 10 yrs from know it should not be like this".

This statement piece is now internationally recognised as a symbol of universal support for the African people. The design of the bracelet is a perfect representation of the beliefs and aims of the charity behind its launch. The green malachite is symbolic of the care of the planet and, in fact, the African continent and its natural and human resources.

J*Davey - Speak on their Style and The Future

Ok yah'll I have to tell u about this new band that i just got introduced to by way of youtube. I know "youtube" but that's where singer "esmee denters" was signed by Justin Timberland so some good things do come from there.
Any ways bck to J*Davey who by the way have
already been signed to warner bros records have this eclectic sound that really sums me up.
As some of u know and if u don't i love jazz, neo-soul but i've got a bit of funk fusion and rock sound deep in my soul and this new band well there not new tick all those boxes and they even have style which is all there own that is an added bonus.

Soooooooooo"what do you get when you mix a bold, modelesque, mohawked chick with a boys name and an electro-funk-soul, uber-hip robotica boy with a name
fit for a girl? What happens when you blend 1-part Electronica, 2-parts Soul, and a sprinkle of Funk and Hip-Hop with a little bit of yesterday, a little more of today, and a whole bunch of tomorrow and throw it in a boiling pot of magic musical fusion?"

" J*DAVEY yah'll "

Jack Davey and Brook D'Leau members of this alosterious band have brought us song's like "Mr Misterwhere if you've seen the video Jack leading man is what looks like a test dummie but what a very lucky dummie some may say. There new video out know is Sloow which has been seen on BET morning cup in London.

Now about fashion the bit we can't leave without the lead singer Jack is rockin her hair with the shaved sides its now black but when she had it cut last year it was blonde (see Mr Mister vid). I like it in black and she was rockin this look way before Cassie and that other model what her name Alice Dellal I think I'II talk about this trend later in another blog. As a whole their style is very 80's in inispration with a rock and mondern twist on it from the Cazal shades to the african print shorts. I'm and absolutely big fan.
I also find out that Jack Davey use to work on the Ellen DeGeneres show for two years now that had to have been fun. I love Ellen she gets me up in the morning with a go song and dancing.
